Argentina JUST PASSED a groundbreaking gender identity bill!!!
From now on, people will be able to change the name and gender on their ID without needing psychiatric permission or any body modifications. Furthermore, anyone who does want hormones or surgery will be able to access them for free through the public and private health system.
It was passed unanimously today by the Senate :-D

‘It’s kind of oxymoronic for me to perform ceremonies that can’t be performed for me,’ she said earlier this week. ‘So I’m not going to do it.’ Parker, Texas’ first openly gay African-American elected official, has unsurprisingly attracted criticism, as well as a number of supporters. ‘Parker is not violating her ‘oath of office’ or refusing to uphold Texas law,’ Dallas Morning News columnist Jacquielynn Flyod wrote. ‘She’s not abandoning her duty—she’s making a point.”

The word is about a lot more than bruised feelings; I’m talking about trauma. As a man in a male supremacist society, trans or not, you really don’t get to say what is and isn’t sexist, and claiming and identifying with a word that is used to dehumanize and justify violence against women is a pretty fucked up thing for a dude to do. You can’t just say you’re a trans activist and then throw the other half of your community under the bus.
